He is the son of Mortimer Smith Parkhill and Barnekah Barnes. He is the oldest child out of 8 children.

Final rites were conducted today for Donald Barnes Parkhill, 23, grandson of Mrs. Edwin Barnes, Dutchess turnpike, who lost his life when his plane crashed in Georgian bay, Canada, recently.

Services were held in the chapel at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery at 2 o'clock with the Rev. William C. Swartz, minister of the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was under the direction of A. A. Schoonmaker.

A guard of honor composed of members of the New York Guard, led by Sergeant James P. McKenna, fired three volleys at the grave. Members of the New York Guard served as bearers.

The guard included Lieutenant Alexander Goldberg, Sergeant Elmer Tripp, Corporal Joseph H. Gellert, Corporal Allen J. Weisman, Private First Class Percy Brock, Private First Class William Levine, Private First Class Paul Zakal and Private First Class Charles Moehrke.
